Howdy y'all! Well it's been so long since I've talked to two of you, and it's pretty much the first time I've talked to one of you! Not for lack of trying on my part, but rather lack of trying on yours, if I do say so myself.
Well if you had told me that there would be two original Athena sitting in this final 3, I would have been floored. Happy even. However, as time has gone by, it has become apparent that I was playing a different game from so many people here. Silly me, I was trying to play Survivor, making social connections with people and trying to maneuver my alliance-mates and myself into advantageous positions; the real game for so many people though was to cash in their knowledge of other contestants from previous games and exploit these pre-existing relationships, good or bad, to their own end. Do not let me be mistaken: I am not bitter about this. I lost myself the game fair and square by overplaying my hand too early. I would just like to make the point that so much of this game runs contrary to typical Survivor wisdom by virute of these pre-existing relationships.
Candice: For whatever else you are, you seem very self-aware. When you're playing a game like this, and you realize that you don't really care and that you're going to get dragged to the end as a goat and get no votes in FTC, why not just quit and save yourself the time and effort of playing out a fruitless game? Clearly you don't have a vested interest in playing, so why continue to log in once every 2 days to do the bare minimum to stay in the game and waste the time of your fellow competitors and two hosts that genuinely cared about their game?
LJ: You seemed to have a dynamite strategy of always being the likable guy who was always behind much bigger targets, and your game really reminds me of a castaway I'm very familiar with, Ethan Zohn. People always had bigger fish to fry until they looked around at the final four and realized that you were this likable guy with no real enemies who was one challenge away from FTC, and by then it was too late to stop you from picking up final immunity and cruising to where we are now. In a game filled with so many power players, do you think this strategy deserves to win?
Katie: Oh, Katie. You and I were really tight, and you really seemed like you were in trouble for a while. In any other game, I would be an automatic vote for you based on our friendship through the game and your underdog story. Then all this ugly pre-game stuff came out, and I started to feel torn. THEN you started quoting the Jury Board in your opening statement. If we were playing "Katie exploits her pre-existing friendships to beat a bunch of people at their own game" you'd have my vote in a heartbeat. My question for you is Do you feel like you played a good enough SURVIVOR game to earn the vote of myself and the other jurors?
Okay, now that's out of the way. I don't want to leave our relationships on a bad note because I really do like the two of you, and I guess I nothing you Candice. (Wish we could have gotten to know one another!) I'd like for this thread to be at least a little bit fun, so here's a task for the three of you:
Describe each of the jurors and finalists as a song and post a quick reason why for each choice. Youtube links are encouraged so I can listen to a "Survivor Warriors Jury" Playlist while I workout this week. (NOTE: THIS TASK IS ENTIRELY OPTIONAL AND DOES NOT HAVE TO BE COMPLETED but seriously though guys it's a game; show me a little fun. )
Peace out! Loved playing the game with you guys through the good and the bad and I wish you all good luck!
